By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, June 9: The intestinal surgery of a 25-year old pregnant COVID-19 patient has been performed successfully in Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur.
"We have successfully conducted the surgery of the 18-week pregnant COVID-19 patient of Chorkot Rural Municipality-5, Achham," informed Dr Nitesh Kumar Kanodiya, Assistant Director of Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur.
A team of Dr Pradip Thapa and Dr Asish Bhatta has performed the surgery.
The hospital has informed that health condition of the patient is normal.
She was airlifted to Kohalpur from Bayalpata Hospital, Achham after her health condition deteriorated. She, along with her husband and a 2-year old daughter, had returned to Nepal from India and was staying in quarantine since May 28.
Her COVID-19 test was conducted at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj. After she tested positive for the virus, the Outpatients Department (OPD) and emergency department of the medical college was sealed from Monday evening for a day.
All the services of the hospitals would be resumed from Wednesday, informed the hospital by issuing a press statement today morning.
