By Nagendra Sapkota, Kathmandu, Apr. 26: Adoption of high alert and security and corresponding steps by the federal and local government has fortified the capital city from possible spread of SARS-CoV-2.
Although COVID-19 cases were detected in some parts of the Kathmandu city, it is now under control. Laitpur and Bhaktpur have no signs of COVID-19 infection yet.
Collective efforts of District Coordination Committee, its subordinate authorities and local bodies have been able to suppress the spread of COVID-19.
Two weeks back in the Sun City apartment of Kageshowri Manohara Municipality-9, two people had tested positive in PCR testing. They have already returned home after recovery.
Until now, 2,022 people have tested negative for the virus out of 2,226 total Raid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) done in 11 local levels in the Kathmandu Valley.
The District Co-ordination office has informed that contact tracing of foreign returnees and RDT was being carried out in full swing in all 11 local levels of the capital city.
Shiva Sundar Raj Vaidya, chief of District Co-ordination Committee said, "Crisis Management Center (CMC) has been established to control the spread of the virus inside the valley and people in extreme danger of COVID-19 are listed in priorities."
Stating that RDT of 2,225 people wasn’t enough to combat COVID-19, he stressed on the need of expansion of RDTs.
Likewise, the border points of each and every municipality have been protected with high alertness to lessen the spread of COVID-19.
People are being allowed to enter in municipalities only after getting their health check-ups done.
Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Ministry of Home Affairs have been regulating CMCs in every district to facilitate in testing and data collection.
District Co-ordination Committee said, "Under the same pronouncement, the District Administration Office, municipalities, police heads and other officials from district coordination committee along with nine working bodies have been working collectively to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19."
