By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec. 2: The hearing of cases has been disrupted at the Supreme Court even today.
The hearing got affected after the lawyers questioned as to which justice has been assigned as the acting Chief Justice in the context that Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has been hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment.
Lottery system to fix benches at the SC for hearing of the cases was brought into effect on Wednesday, but this question had also affected the hearing even on that day.
Devendra Dhakal, information officer at SC, said the SC justices has held discussion on the same issue today. He expected that the benches would run after a while.
The law professionals have been pointing to the constitutional provision for assigning a justice as an acting CJ in case the CJ is in no condition to perform his/her task.
CJ Rana has been admitted to the Balambu-based Armed Police Force Hospital as he has been infected with the novel coronavirus.
