Kathmandu, July 22: The Ministry of Health and Population on Thursday warned against the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
Issuing a press statement today, assistant spokesperson at the Health Ministry Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari said, "Spike in infection rate is being seen due to the relaxation of prohibitory orders. This has increased the possibility of the third wave in the nation."
Similarly, the ministry has also requested all the health institutions across the country to ready oxygen cylinders, beds, and all other healthcare infrastructures needed to fight the pandemic.
"We have already directed all hospitals to prepare for the third wave," said Dr. Adhikari, adding, "As children are at a higher risk of being infected, we have called hospitals to separate Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and ventilators for the treatment of children."
Until now, a total of 724,455 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus in Nepal of which, 36,402 have already recovered and 9,637 succumbed to the infection.
