The government has decided cancel the Secondary School Examination (SEE) of the current academic session.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at an official residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar, this evening, took the decision to this effect, Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel informed The Rising Nepal.
Minister Pokhrel said, "Now that it is clear that the SEE will not happen, endorsement to the decision will be given after completion of legal homework in the days to come."
"Grading of students will be done on the basis of internal assessment," Minister Pokharel said.
The proposal was forwarded by the Education Minister himself.
As the cabinet meeting went till late in the evening, the decision hasn’t been revealed formally.
The government's spokesperson and Minister for Finance and Communication and Information Technology Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada will reveal the cabinet decision on Thursday.
The SEE exam was scheduled for March 19 and was postponed on March 18.
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting decided to ease the nationwide lockdown as per the modality proposed by the COVID-19 Control Management Centre-Operation (CCMC-Ops).
According to Minister for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun the government had decided to open shops, private vehicles and run cabbies under the basis of odd and even number plates.
The odd and even number will be confirmed by the last digit of the number plates, according to Minister Pun.
Markets will also be allowed to open in compliance with certain criteria of the CCMC-Ops, he said.
Complete decision on this modality will be publicised by the government on Thursday, he said.
Two wheelers and taxis will be given to ply on the road on odd and even number plate basis, added Minister Pun.
Decision regarding operation of long routed vehicle hasn't been made, he said.
The odd and even number will also be operated under the basis of odd and even number dates of the Nepali calendar.
