By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb. 3: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction has called a nation-wide shutdown for Thursday, Feb 4.
NCP spokesperson Narayankaji Shrestha said the general strike was called to protest the appointments made by the government in constitutional bodies without following due process of hearing in the parliamentary committees.
Shrestha said that the general strike would be peaceful and that hospital, ambulance, press, and other essentials carrying vehicles would be allowed to move but all the other shops, vehicles would be closed.
Ongoing examinations of any grades would not be disturbed during the shutdown, the NCP spokesperson said.
A Masal Julus (fire rally in which people carry stick with fire at one end of the stick) is to be held this evening, according to leader Pampha Bhusal. She said that the general strike was called out of compulsion as the government was taking unconstitutional moves one after another.
