By a Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Jul 8: The Metropolitan Crime Division has arrested an individual for cheating multiple individuals by faking to provide jobs at the World Health Organisation.

As per the division, the arrested individual has been identified as Bijay Pandey, 34, a resident from Nawalparasi. Pandey has been living in Tinkune, Kathmandu.

Pandey was arrested from New Baneshwor on Tuesday following a complaint against him at the division. Ashmita Adhikari, a resident from Bharatpur Metropolitan City, had filed a complaint since Pandey had cheated her and went out of contact.

From May 11 to June 21, the victim had sent different sum of money to Pandey which totaled to Rs 182,000. Pandey had assured the woman to provide her a job at World Health Organisation (WHO).

During the investigation, police found out that Pandey introduced himself as an employee at WHO and assured to provide a job for Adhikari in the organization as well.

Pandey also provided fake offer letter and papers of Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Company to assure Adhikari that he was on the way to get her the job and made it easy to ask for more money.

After the arrest, police found out that it was not the only case of forgery in which Pandey was involved.

Dhan Bahadur Bista, owner of a furniture house in Kathmandu, was cheated with Rs 50,000 when Pandey took the money after assuring Bista that he would buy Rs 1.8 million worth of furniture from his shop.

Similarly, Pandey had also cheated Rs 350,000 from Nishan Babu Ghimire, a resident from Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Ghimire was also cheated after Pandey assured to provide a job at WHO.

Along with Ghimire, Dipak Khanal, Dhan Bahadur Chhetri, Kashi Gurung, Sarita Bhandari and Ram Ghimire were also cheated by Pandey after faking to provide them job at WHO.

Likewise, Pandey had also employed Ranju Buda, a resident from Accham, in a fake office for one year and did not pay her a coin.

The division has also requested public to come in contact with the division or Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, if cheated from Pandey.
