Four bodies recovered from Karnali River, one still missing

By Kamal Sharma, Dailekh, March 9: Two more bodies, out of five people of the same family, who had gone missing from Sunday evening have been recovered from Karnali River.

The missing persons have been identified as Suki Baduwal, aged 35, her three daughters, Kalpana Baduwal, aged 15, and Sarita Baduwal aged 12 and Rajani Baduwal, aged 7 and her son Lalit Baduwal, aged 10 from Nimail, Aathbish Municipality-3.

The bodies of 15-year-old Kalpana Baduwal and 12-year-old Sarita Baduwal were recovered on Monday afternoon.

Their bodies were found wrapped in a fishing trap in the Karnali River at Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-4, Belkhet, Achham.

After recovering two bodies on Tuesday morning, officials from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and locals had been searching for the remaining missing persons.  

DSP Anupam Shrestha of Dailekh District Police Office said that the bodies of two persons were found at around 12 noon today (Tuesday).

He said that the bodies of Suki Baduwal and her son, Lalit Baduwal have been recovered.

DSP Shrestha, who was present at the spot, found the bodies of two persons in the Karnali River near the bridge at Belkhet connecting Dailekh and Achham.

Seven–year-old Rajani Baduwla is still missing and the police is in search for her.

After the bodies of two more people were found in the Karnali River, it has been confirmed that all the five jumped into the Karnali River.

According to police, Suki's husband Man Bahadur Baduwal had been arrested and further investigation on the matter is underway.
