By Narayan Kafle, Kathmandu, Dec. 13: Former Chief commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Deep Basnyat, has been remanded in judicial custody today.
The former CIAA chief has been sent to Dilibazar jail for interrogation, as per the order of the Special Court, on charge of his involvement in Lalita Niwas land scam.
The CIAA had filed a case against Basnyat alleging him of playing role in transfering public land in individual's ownership when Basnyat was secretary of the then Physical Planning and Transportation Ministry.
Pushpa Raj Pandey, spokesperson of the Special Court, informed that the court order has been made to send Basnyat to jail on the basis of existing and available evidence so as to ensure his participation in the remaining process of the case.
