Forest in Pokhara metropolis to come under local community

By Tara Chapagain, Kaski, Dec. 25: Aiming to protect and promote the massive forest area in the northern part of Armala, a place in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 16, two separate consumer committees have been formed to register the forest area as community forest.  It is the largest forest area in ​​the metropolis.

Since the forest area is large, the two consumer committees -- Armala, Kalilek Sainidanda Community Forest Users Group and Maudhun, Chogoe and Armala Community Forest Users Group -- have been tasked with protecting and promoting the forest.

The Armala, Kalilek Sainidanda Community Forest Users Group has been formed under the chairmanship of Tej Bahadur Gurung while Indra Bahadur Gurung is the chairman of the Moudhun, Chogoe and Armala Community Forest Users Group.

The meeting chaired by Karna Bahadur Gurung, a senior social worker, and attended by Jit Bahadur Basnet, a member of the Community Forest Federation Gandaki Province Consumer Group, has appointed Tej Bahadur Gurung as the chairman of Armala, Kalilek Sainidanda Community Forest Users Group, while Indra Bahadur Gurung as the chairman of the Moudhun, Chogoe and Armala Community Forest Users Group.

The meeting has also decided to register the two community groups at the District Forest Office, Kaski.

Similarly, Karna Bahadur Gurung is elected as coordinator, Tej Bahadur Gurung, Durga Bahadur Gurung, Dil Bahadur Gurung, Jum Prasad Gurung, Dil Prasad Gurung and Khim Bahadur Gurung as the advisory members of the committee.

One of the four entry points of Armala Kalilek Sanidanda Community Forest Users Group is Chautari, at the east-south side, in Sanidanda, river bank up to Napata, lower meeting point of Krimusyo river, Bhaisi river to the eastern border of Bangebhir to the west, Rama's Danda to the north. Khushipani, which is close to Chautari, has a horizontal road, a rocky outcrop, and a border up to Purje Pakha.

Similarly, under Mhaudhun, Chhogoe, Armala Community Forest Users Group, there is Trishuli Bhir's root, at the east-south side, Praunlavaydanda, Thulo Dhunga, Kuprahon Thewa Danda to the eastern side, Chivir's Danda Kuragaun to the north-west passing through Mikhuthu hill to the north-south.

The Deurali road in Majedanda covers the area from Olalho to Yale Patle above the border with the Kharka, in Dharti Fata, and the forest area of ​​Maundhu Than on the southwest to the western Awadhi area.
