Province-2, provincial assembly meeting
By Dhirendra Prasad Shah, Janakpur, Jan 16: A Special committee formed to study the name and permanent capital of province 2 has submitted its report in the sixth meeting of the eighth session of the provincial assembly held on Sunday.
Committee member Parmeshwar Sah, a member of the provincial assembly, has presented the report in the assembly.
He said that the committee could not decide on the name of the province and the common name in the capital.
Stating that out of the six proposed names of the province, four have been modified through various meetings, discussions and dialogues of the committee, he submitted three proposals for the capital to the provincial assembly.
He informed that the committee has three proposals for names of the province as Madhes, Janaki, Madhya Madhes and Mithila Bhojpura, and for the capital as Janakpurdham, Birgunj (Pokhariya Municipality, up to Simraungadh) and Birgunj Municipality.
He said that the committee has decided to hold a secret ballot on the issue of the name of the province and the capital.
