By Laxman Paudel, Bhairahawa, June 27: Entry of locust has been confirmed in Rupandehi district.
Province 5 government has initiated preparation to check the spread of the insect that came from India after destroying crops there.
Yam Narayan Devkota, chief of agriculture development directorate of Province 5, informed that the locust had entered different parts of Rupandehi district from the southern parts of the district.
While a few locust like insects were seen in Bhairahawa and Butwal area of this district on Saturday morning, they were found flying in a large group at day time.
Investigation by a technical team was initiated after locust like insects were seen, and now it has been confirmed that locust has arrived here and works on ways to control it are being prepared, said Devkota.
He said that the locust seen in the sky of Rupendehi may have come here breaking away from a large group due to continuous rainfall.

The army controlled the big-sized grasshopper like insects after it was found in a large number in the barrack, said Mahadev Panth, Chief District Officer of Rupandehi.
