By Chitra Mijar, Sindhupalchowk, May 16: The 29-year old COVID-19 suspect who breathed her last at Dhulikhel Hospital had visited a shamans' house for treatment.
The deceased was a postpartum woman of Barhabise Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, who was suffering from high fever and breathing difficulties.
She was taken to various shamans' homes for treatment, the locals said.
"A youth had taken her to a shaman's place on motorcycle," said a local, requesting anonymity. "Her family members and local women and youths had also helped her to reach to the shaman's."
Later, as her health condition deteriorated, she was taken to Dhulikhel Hospital for treatment.
The deceased had been admitted for delivery at TU Teaching Hospital (TUTH) on May 5.
Following the delivery of her child on May 6, she was discharged from the hospital on May 7.
Aafter suffering from high fever and respiratory problem, she was admitted to a local hospital in Sindhupalchowk.
As her health condition deteriorated, she was taken to Kavre-based Dhulikhel Hospital where she breathed her last on Thursday evening.
As the deceased's symptoms matched with COVID-19 symptoms, her swab sample has been brought to National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), Teku, for conducting a PCR test.
Her PCR report is yet to come.
