Kathmandu, Aug. 23: The rate of coronavirus infection as per the daily PCR testing, which was above 44 per cent at the peak of the second wave, has been shrinking down to below 25 per cent since August second week.
The coronavirus infection rate recorded to be lowest as per the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) data were 15.34 and 15.84 per cent on August 21 and 22 respectively.
The ratio of Coronavirus infection as per the daily PCR testing stands at 15.34 per cent on August 22, 15.84 per cent on August 21, 17.23 per cent on August 20, 18.70 on August 19, 20.21 per cent on August 18, 18.50 per cent on August 17, 22.10 per cent on August 15, 19.33 per cent on August 14, 21.06 per cent on August 13, 21.08 per cent on August 12, 20.89 per cent on August 11 and 25.64 per cent on August 10.
According to Dr Sher Bahadur Pun, chief of the Clinical Research Unit at Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku, the ratio of coronavirus infection as per daily testing has gone down.
He further pointed that generally, people that come for PCR testing have some symptoms of Coronavirus infection but, this number has also gone down.
“However, we cannot say that the Coronavirus infection has gone down only by the PCR testing criteria,” he said.
The ratio of Coronavirus infection as per the daily PCR testing was 38 per cent on May 1, 44.03 per cent on May 15, 34 per cent on May 30, 30.22 on June 1, 20 per cent on June 15, 17.29 per cent on July 1, 20.92 per cent on July 1, 24.62 per cent on August 1.
The average daily percentage of the infected ratio, which was above 45 per cent at the peak of the second wave, had gone below 25 per cent after June 15. Since then, the lowest ratio of Coronavirus infection as per the daily PCR testing reported has been reported been on August 22 and 21.
