By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 1: An indefinite prohibitory order has been imposed in Birendra Nagar Municipality in Surkhet district by lifting the curfew order clamped from last night till this evening.
Khagendra Prasad Rijal, Chief District Officer of Surkhet, informed that the prohibitory order was imposed at certain places where crowds gather very often.
He said that Aria Chowk, Mangalgadhi chowk, Hatiya Chowk and Hatiya line areas have been named as restricted areas as these were the hotspot area of demonstrations on Monday which turned violent.
Gathering of more than five people, taking out rallies, meetings have been restricted in these areas and that restriction will continue until further notice.
"Curfew period passed normally. No unpleasant incident took place during the curfew. Considering this and the difficulty for the people during the curfew we imposed restriction in the places where curfew was imposed," he said.
Six political parties and two people's fronts had announced a general strike for Monday protesting the endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact from the parliament on Sunday. Curfew was imposed since Monday evening as the protestors vandalized a police beat and offices of the major political parties.
