By Chhabi Pandey, Butwal, Oct. 10: The District Administration Office, Rupendehi has imposed a curfew in the Motipur Industrial Area of Butwal and surrounding areas from 4 pm on Sunday.
The order issued by Chief District Officer Rishi Ram Tiwari on Sunday states that a curfew has been imposed from 4 pm on Sunday until further orders.
The curfew area includes Tinau river in the east (Butwal sub-municipality 17 from Sivanagar to Saurahiya bridge of ward no. 18), arable land in Hariharpur (Butwal 17) in the west, Ranigunj settlement in north Shivnagar (Butwal 17) and land in Butwal sub-metropolitan 18 industrial corridors (Dhandapur to Saurahiya) in the south.
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, police opened fire on a group trying to remove a group trying to encroach on the land in Motipur Industrial Area.
At least five people have been injured in the shooting. The Rupandehi administration has been trying to vacate the land in Motipur Industrial Area for the past few days.
A clash broke out between the police and the trespassers on Sunday afternoon while trying to remove the trespassers.
