By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 26: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Wednesday confirmed 885 new cases of COVID-19.

In 13,253 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 885 persons, 299 females and 586 males, were found to be infected with the virus, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing on Wednesday.

The new cases were detected in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Khotang, Jhapa, Terhathum, Panchthar, Morang, Sunsari, Danusa, Parsa, Bara, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kavre, Chitwan, Dolakha, Dhading, Ramechhap, Makwanpur,  Sindhupalchowk, Kaski, Gorkha, Lamjung, Nawalparasi (East), Argakhanchi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Pyuthan, Nawalparasi (West), Bardiya, Banke, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Salyan ,surkhet, Achcham, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Dadeldhura and Doti.

Meanwhile, 385 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 56.6 per cent.

Currently, there are 14,739 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 8,711 are in institutional isolation and 6,028 are in home isolation. Some 9,832 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine across the nation.

Of the active COVID-19 patients, 151 are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 14 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 34,418.
