By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 29: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Saturday confirmed 884 new cases of COVID-19.

In 11,516 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 884 persons, 242 females and 642 males, were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Ilam, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Morang, Sankhuwasabha, Sunsari, Dhanusa, Parsa, Bara, Mahottari, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kavre, Cihtwan Dolakha, Dhading, Makwanpur, Sindhupakchowk, Nawalparasi (East), Kaski, Lamjung, Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Dang, Nawalparasi, Banke, Rupandedhi, Jajarkot, Jumla, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Surkhet, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Darchula, Bajhang and Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 313 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 55 per cent.

Currently, there are 16,578 active cases of COVID-19, of which, 10,145 are in institutional isolation and 6,445 are in home isolation. Some 8,035 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Of the active COVID-19 infected patients, 175 are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 22 are receiving treatment in the ventilator facility.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 37,340 including 20,555 cases of recovery.
