By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 21: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 838 new cases of COVID-19 today.

In 13,579 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction Tests (RT-PCR) done in the last 24 hours, as many as 838 persons, 292 females and 546 males, were found to be infected with the virus, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Ilam, Udayapur, Jhapa, Taplejung, Panchthar, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusa, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Saprari, Sarlahi, Siraha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Dolakha, Dhading, Rasuwa, Makwanpur, Sindhuli, Kaski, Parbat, Manang, Baglung, Syangja, Argakhachi, Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Dang, Palpa, Pyuthan, Bardiya, Banke, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Kalikot, Jumla, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Achcham, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Dadeldhura, Doti and Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 250 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 69.8 per cent.

Currently, there are 12,132 active cases of COVID-19 of which, 3,586 are in home isolation. As many as 12,234 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine across the nation.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 30,483 including 18,214 cases of recovery and 137 death cases.
