By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 25: With 2,856 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection confirmed on Sunday, the national COVID-19 caseload has reached 158,089.
"In 12,311 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,856 persons, 1,067 females and 1,789 males were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its update.
Currently, there are 45,572 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 32,593 are in home isolation. Some 277 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU while 66 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility. A total of 3,064 persons are currently placed in quarantine.
Meanwhile, 3,336 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 111,670 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 70.6 per cent.
As many as five people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 847.
