By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 5: The fourth Everest Premier League (EPL) scheduled to start from March 14 has been postponed due to the potential risk of COVID-19.
Various cricket teams playing in the EPL had signed the world-famous cricketers such as Chris Gayle, Kori Anderson, Dwayne Smith and Upul Tharanga.
The EPL by issuing a press release on Thursday informed that considering the risk of COVID-19, the league was postponed after consulting with the Ministry of Home Affairs and other concerned authorities.
Amir Akhtar, founder and managing director of EPL, said, “We are sad to postpone the league.”
Considering the health of Nepali citizens and foreign players, we made this decision, he added.
Akhtar said that they drew the conclusion to defer the game after consulting with Ministry of Home Affairs, Franchise club, Cricket Association of Nepal and sponsors of the league.
Akthar promised that the rescheduling of the league would be done in a grand way.
