COVID-19 caseload hits 17,177 with 116 new cases, 697 recovered

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 15: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 116 new cases of COVID-19 today.

In 5,090 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests performed in 26 laboratories in the last 24 hours, 116 people were found with the virus infection, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Dhankuta, Morang, Taplejung, Saptari, Dhanusa, Nuwakot, Kathmandu, Sindhupalchowk, Chitwan, Nawalparasi (East), Rautahat, Dhading, Palpa, Gorkha, Kaski, Tanahun, Myagdi, Salyan, Achcham, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Jumla, Mugu, Surkhet and Dadeldhura.  

Of the total infected, seven are from Kathmandu valley.

Meanwhile, 697 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate now stands at 64.2 per cent.

Currently, there are 6,113 active cases of COVID-19 and 24,527 people are in quarantine.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 17,177 including 11,025 cases of recovery and 39 death cases.
