By Shivakumar Kashi, Hetauda, July 21: Community schools in Makwanpur Manahari Rural Municipality have been reopened adopting strict measures for social distancing protocol as issued by the government.

However, students are called on alternative days as students of only a class attend the school on a day.

With the consultation of rural municipality, the decision was made to resume classes strictly abiding protocols to check any possible spread of the novel coronavirus, said Govida Prasad Poudel, Principal of National Rotary Secondary School, Manahari-7.

Likewise, in many other schools, the same method of teaching students of a class at a time with social distancing is adopted.

Usually 20 students are seated in a classroom and when there are more than the number, the students are divided into different classrooms,  as in Class 9 number of students exceeds more than 20, so others are kept in 3 other classrooms, said the head teacher.

Decision to resume classes was taken after finding an increased cases of mental problems in students during the lockdown. We have maintained social distance and cleanliness very well in the schools, said education coordinator, Hari Chandra Sapkota.

There are 32 community schools in this rural municipality and there are half a dozen private schools.

Meanwhile, the initiative to re-open school is being followed by the private schools as well. (Translated from RSS Nepali service)
