By Kanhaiya Lal Keshari, Parsa, Aug. 16: Nepali Army (NA) has been mobilised in Birgunj Metropolitan City from Sunday afternoon till August 29 to help the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force for implementing prohibitory order enforced since July 25 but largely violated by the locals.
Aasman Tamang, Chief District Officer of Prasa district, informed that a meeting of the District Security Committee held on Sunday decided to deploy the army within the BMC to assist the police forces to implement prohibitory orders and thus help in controlling further spread of COVID-19.
Despite restrictions, people in Birgunj have continued with regular mobility and crowd making, according to the CDO.
As many as 25 people have died from COVID-19 in Parsa district while number of infected persons has been on the rise for the last one month.
