An elderly dies of COVID-19 in Mahottari

By Narendra Kumar Karn, Jaleshwor, Aug. 25: An elderly has died due to COVID-19 in Mahottari, taking the district COVID-19 death toll to 3.

A male, 75, resident of the Manarashingwa Municipality-5, Mahottari district lost his life due to COVID-19.

After testing positive for the deadly virus infection in the PCR test, he was brought to Jaleshwor Hospital for treatment at the isolation center but he died on the way to isolation center. He was accompanied by his son who also tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar Shah, physician at the isolation center, said, "The deceased was suffering from various diseases for a long period of time. He was the patient of the diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer as per the information provided by the deceased's son."

He had undergone treatment in the Bharatpur Cancer hospital recently.

Fulfiling due procedures, the body of the deceased is being handed to the Nepali Amry for disposal.

Bidur Adhakari, chief of Ranbhim battalion of the NA located at Jaleshwor, said that he had received the information from the hospital and the last funeral would be done after completing the legal procedure.

Girendra Kumar Jha, focal person of Mahottari Health Office, said, in the total of 1,172 COVID-19 cases in Mahottari district, 89 are females and 1083 are males as of now.

Three persons  have lost their lives due to COVID-19 so far, he added. The persons who died earlier due to the virus infection were also elderlies, a resident of Mahottari Rural Municipality and the other was resident of Matihani Municipality.
