By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 13: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed 144 new cases of COVID-19 today.

In 5,856 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 144 persons were found with the virus infection, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

The new cases were detected in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Kathmandu, Kapilvastu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavre, Kailali, Myagdi, Dolakha, Makwanpur, Rautahat, Sindhuli, Baglung, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Bardiya, Dang, Rukum (West), Banke, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Surkhet, Bajhang, Baitadi, Achham and Kailali.

Of the new COVID-19 cases, nine are from the Kathmandu Valley. 

Meanwhile, 1,705 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 60.7 per cent. 

Currently, there are 6,613 active cases of COVID-19 and 23,470 people who came from abroad are placed in quarantine.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 16,945 including 10,294 cases of recovery and 38 death cases.
