By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 30: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday confirmed 1,221 new cases of COVID-19.
In 12,717 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as persons, 348 females and 873 males, were found with the virus infection, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.
Meanwhile, 267 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities across the nation were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 54 per cent.
Currently, there are 17,518 active cases of COVID-19, of which 10,612 are in institutional isolation and 6,900 are in home isolation. Some 7,797 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
Of the active patients, 144 are admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 17 are receiving the ventilator facility.
With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 38,561 including 20,822 cases of recovery.
