By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 7: The Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday confirmed 66 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation's novel coronavirus tally to 274,721.

"In 4,111 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 66 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Of the new infections, a total of 27 cases including two in Lalitpur, 24 in Kathmandu and one in Bhaktapur were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley.

Currently, there are 825 active cases of COVID-19 of which 207 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolations and 618 are placed in home isolation. Similarly, 58 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation. 

Moreover, 43 people across the nation are admitted to the ICU and nine are receiving treatment with ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 53 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 270,886 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 98.6 per cent.

Moreover, no fatalities were recorded across the nation on Sunday. Currently, Nepal's COVID-19 death toll is at 3,010.
