By Deepak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, Apr. 26: A 60-year-old male of Adarshanagar in Birgunj Metropolitan City-6 succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection on Monday morning while under treatment at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.
He was admitted to the hospital on April 16 after he tested positive for the virus on April 14.
Dr. Sajor Roshan Das, COVID-19 coordinator of the hospital said that the patient breathed his last at 9.30 am on Monday morning.
"The patient was suffering from chronic pneumonia and was having difficulties in breathing. This led to a cardiac arrest and we couldn’t save him despite multiple efforts," said Dr. Das.
A total of 12 COVID-19 patients have died in Birgunj since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
