By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec. 30: With 511 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Wednesday, the national COVID-19 tally has surged to 260,059.
"In 5,110 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 511 persons were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the regular press briefing.
Currently, there are 6,300 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which 3,477 patients are admitted to institutional isolation and 2,823 are admitted to home isolation and the recovery rate has reached 96.9 per cent.
A total of 362 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.
Meanwhile, 600 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 251,912 cases of recoveries.
A total of seven people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 1,847.
