By Shivaraj Dhungana, Achham, July 3: As many as 209 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported today in Accham district.
It is the highest number of infections confirmed in a single day in the district so far.
Swabs collected from different quarantine places in the district were sent to National People's Health Laboratory, Kathmandu, Patan Hospital and Seti Provincial hospital for the testing.
Of the infected, 52 are from Safebagar Municipality, 24 from Chaurpati Rural Municipality, 27 from Dhakari Rural Municipality, 29 from Mangalsen Municipality, 19 from Turmakhand Rural Municipality, 15 from Mellekh Rural Municipality, 29 from Jaygadh Rural Municipality, 7 from Kamal Bazar and 6 from Panchadewal Binayak Municipality, according to Dev Joshi, information officer at Achham district health office.
Preparations are underway to treat the infected persons whose health condition is normal at the isolation centers being set up at the local levels. However, those infected persons with complicated health conditions will be brought to the hospitals as fixed by Health Ministry for treatment of the COVID-19 patients.
With 209 new cases, total cases of COVID-19 in Accham district has reached 521. 45 of the infected have recovered from the virus infection and returned home so far. Report of the 793 swabs collected from different quarantines in the district are yet to be received.
