By Muna Hamal, Surkhet, Aug. 13: Infection of SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 has been confirmed in additional 18 persons in Karnali Province today.
With this, COVID-19 caseload in Karnali has reached 2,052.
All the infected are from Surkhet, according to Health Service Division under the Provincial Ministry for Social Development.
Of the 18 newly detected COVID-19 patients, 17 are from Birendra Nagar Municipality while only one person is from Lekbeshi Municipality. All the infected have been staying in the quarantine facility set up at Ghantaghar.
Meanwhile, seven COVID-19 patients have returned home after recovering from the virus infection, which takes the number of people who have recovered from the virus to 1,901. Number of active cases in the province has come down to 145 till the date. Six people have succumbed to the deadly virus in province till the date.
