108 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Parsa district

Dipak Prasad Gautam, Birgunj, Aug. 19: As many as 108 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Parsa district, which takes the district tally to 1,582.

Jaymod Thakur, Health Inspector at Parsa District Health Office, said that most of the newly confirmed infected, 90 out of 108, as per the report of the PCR test carried out at the Narayani Hospital laboratory are from Badhurmai Municipality. Of those 90, 65 are from Bhauratar settlement, Ward No. 5 of the municipality.

Swab samples of the people of Bairiya Birta and Bauratar were taken on August 15 based on contact tracing after 15 people of the municipality including the Mayor tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly, 20 persons of Bauriyabirta Pipra at Ward No. 2, five persons from Ward No. 3 including a person working in the health post there, of the same municipality have also tested positive for the virus.

Likewise, six additional employees of Birgunj-based Narayani Bayodha Hospital have also tested positive for the virus. 30 officials of the same hospital were found with virus on Monday.

The total infected in the district include 20 Indian national residing in the district, 102 health workers working in different institutions, 46 employees of different hospitals, 73 security officials of different security forces, six journalists and 89 detainees in the prison or police custody, according to District Administration Office.
