Bharatpur, Dec 20 : Non-residents Nepalis have come to the rescue of children suffering from cold in various Chepang families in the district.
Accordingly, warm clothes were distributed to 80 children of Chepang households in Madi, Chitwan.
The children are students of the Krishnanagar secondary school.
They received the support at a function held at Madi municipality-9 on Saturday. Nepalis residing in Belgium raised funds to provide the support at the initiative of local media worker Narayan Sapkota.
Deputy Mayor of Madi municipality Tarakaji Mahato gave away the clothes while thanking those who have come in support of the children from the indigenous landless communities.
This will encourage them to attend school regularly during the winter season, Mahato said.
On the occasion, spokesperson of the municipality and ward no. 9 chair Shiva Hari Subedi called for support in the educational development of the children of the destitute Chepang families.
