By Our Correspondent, Bara, Jan. 22: Ward secretary Balaram Mandal of Devtal Municipality – 6, in Bara district was arrested on the charge of raping a woman when she had gone out to answer nature’s call.
As per a preliminary investigation, Mandal had raped the woman in the sugarcane farm on Sunday, said Deputy Superintendent of Police of Bara District Gautam Mishra.
As soon as police knew about the rape, they arrested Mandal for investigation.
Mishra said that Mandal was remanded in a five-day custody for further investigation.
Meanwhile, three others were arrested for making an attempt to rape a woman in Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City.
Naimudin Ansari, 18, Shesh Jamin, 25, and Shesh Sami Aktar, 19, were arrested on the suspicion of the attempt rape on a 21-year old woman.
They were taking the woman, who was grazing cattle, towards nearby sugarcane filed by tying her legs and shutting her mouth. But when children made noise, the locals rescued the woman.
According to Deputy Superintendent Police Gobinda Puri, the arrestees were remanded a five-day custody for further investigation.
