Kathmandu, Jan 19: The number of users of high-speed internet (broadband) is increasing in the country.
According to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, there are a total of 27 million 706 thousand broadband internet users in the country. Among them, 19 million 853 thousand were mobile broadband users.
The volume of telephone service stands at 13.75 per cent while broadband penetration has reached 91.55 per cent.
Of the total 753 local levels in the country, 679 had a broadband connection. Similarly, 5,554 ward offices, 5,032 community schools, and 4,027 health posts had access to broadband internet, said Purusottam Khanal, chairperson of the Rural Telecommunications Development Fund under the Authority.
Likewise, 1,800 megahertz band frequency was provided through tender in the last fiscal year 2021/22. Each frequency was priced at Rs 58 million. Information Technology Lab was established in 1000 community schools as of now, informed Khanal.
