Rupandehi, March 27 : Mayor of Tilottama municipality, Basudev Ghimire, and Deputy Mayor Jagashwor Devi Chaudhary donated Rs 50,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively to Disaster Management Fund in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
Chief Administrative Officer Madhav Prasad Sharma said that a decision was made for all employees and serving the municipality to deposit three-day salary to the Fund. The municipality has also set a target to raise Disaster Management, Health and Community Special Fund to Rs 10 million from Rs 8 million so as to battle against COVID-19. Various individuals and organizations have started donating amount to the fund with the request from the municipality for the same. The municipality has appealed to one and all to contribute possible support to the account of Natural Disaster Fund at NIC Asia Bank. Mayor Ghimire mentioned the fund would be utilized to run the programmes against corona pandemic as well as help cope with other natural disasters in future. The municipality has developed Shankarnagar Durgadutta Secondary School as a quarantine centre and also announced to provide 10-kg rice, 2-kg pulses and 1-kg salt each to wage earners passing through tough time to manage their two squares of meals due to lockdown enforced by the government to tackle COVID-19.
