By Our Correspondent, Jumla, Aug. 29: The District Police Office, Jumla, has arrested three youth on charge of gang-raping an 18-year-old woman.
The trio has been identified as Bishal Sarki, 20, Kamal Sarki, 20; and Jiwan Raut, 28.
“The three had snatched the mobile phone of the victim, who had arrived in Jagannath Temple at Tatopani Rural Municipality to attend a fair, and ran away. When she came to take her phone back, they raped her,” said Police Inspector Nabin Thapa Magar.
The victim’s family had then lodged a complaint at the district police following which an investigation had begun. The trio was presented before the district court, which allowed them to be kept in five-day judicial custody.
Further investigation into the case is said to have started.
Likewise, police also arrested 28-year-old Jiban Raut in another rape incident in the district.
Raut had raped a 45-year-old woman, who was deaf and dumb, in Tila Rural Municipality of the district on August 24.
