Jajarkot, July 8 : Agitating workers have shut down the operations of Nepal Telecom tower in Nalgad rural municipality-8, Garaila for not receiving remuneration dues of their engagement in the tower construction works.
The tower was constructed to establish linkage with other towers of Dolpa and Rukum-West (Golamkot). Hiralal Batala, a victim who was engaged in the construction works, said they resorted to shut down the operations of the tower as they were not provided with their remuneration dues for long time.
With this, the towers of Jajarkot’s Nalgad municipality, Rukum-West’s Athbiskot and Dolpa’s Mudkechula have also remained dysfunctional for over a week. Nepal Telecom Jajarkot said the problem emerged when the workers remained adamant to not allow the operations of the tower until and unless they got their remunerations.
The victim workers have yet to receive around Rs 200,000 from the contractor, they claimed. The labourers had announced protest in less than three months since the tower that was constructed in two years came into operations.
