Baitedi, Jan 2 : Special classes in two schools in Baitedi have shut down for lack of students. This has happened in Sunarya rural municipality and Sigas rural municipality.
The Shanker Sanskrit Secondary School in Mulkhatali and the Basic school in Sigas have shut down their special classes, said information officer of the Education Development and Coordination Unit, Baitedi Puskar Sharma.
The special classes were targeted on students with special needs, including those with disabilities. The classes had begun in 2061 B.S. The reason behind the decreasing number of students requiring special education is also reported to be the Corona Virus pandemic.
The atmosphere for students with special needs to reach to the school is not conducive with pandemic, said Vice-President of District Disabled Federation Laxmi Bista.
Furthermore, the policy adopted by the State to reach the access of education to students with disabilities has not been effective.
