Dhanusha, Oct 3: State 2 chief minister Lalbabu Raut has said public awareness was vital to end child marriage as only laws and policies were not enough to control it.
In his address to a state-level discussion against child marriage in Janakpur on Wednesday, the chief minister said," We have laws , acts and policies against child marriage since years, but still it continues to exist in the society and social awareness and efficiency building of daughters are necessary to stop it."
He asserted that daughters should be educated and given opportunity for competency building and exploring self-excellence along with the strong implementation of laws and acts. As he said, "Let's save daughter, let's educate daughter" campaign launched by the state government aims to educate and empower daughters and its results have started out.
In the recent one year, female foeticide has significantly gone down here and a report about this has been already published, according to the chief minister.
