Kathmandu, May 13 : Six hundred and seventy four Nepalis have been infected with COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is the main labour destination country for Nepali migrant workers.
According to the Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 336 Nepalis are infected in the eastern sector, 148 in the western sector, 175 in Riyadh area, three each in Kasim and Hayal areas and nine in other areas.
There is a large presence of Nepali workers in the eastern sector of Saudi Arabia. The Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh stated that several of the infected Nepalis have returned to work after recovering. One among the infected Nepalis had died, the Saudi Arabia government has confirmed. The total number of infected persons in Saudi Arabia has reached 42 thousand 925. Of them, 15 thousand 257 have recovered while 264 have died so far.
