Solukhumbu, June 16 : Chairman of Pasang Lhyamu Rural Municipality Ngim Dorjee Sherpa passed away this morning, rural municipality’s spokesperson Lakpa Tshiri Sherpa confirmed. He was 39.
Sherpa was a popular politician in Khumbu region. Sherpa leaves behind his wife and three sons.
Suffering from cancer in his small intestine, Chairman Sherpa was receiving treatment in Kathmandu for some time. As his health condition was stable, Sherpa was brought to his home in Lukla on May 23 by a helicopter based on the recommendation of doctors.
Before taking him to his village, Sherpa received chemotherapy at HAMS Hospital in the capital after coming from Switzerland following the treatment.
Prior to this, Sherpa was also admitted to Medanta Hospital in New Delhi for two months and received radio therapy.
