By Our Correspondent, Mahottari, June 19: A group of youth of Ward 10 of Balawa Municipality Friday planted rice on the muddy road as a protest.
They said the ward chairman and mayor were not completing development works effectively and transparently.
The youth demonstrated the symbolic protest by planting rice on the road of Dhrubkunda.
The road section remains muddy throughout the monsoon as the local authorities have not paid attention to the woes of the locals who suffer a lot because of the poor condition of the road section.
“The municipality and ward have not done what they needed to. Moreover, the development works which had started have also not been completed in time, and they have not been carried out in a transparent way,” said Adarsha Karn, one of the protestors.
The youth further said that the road section was the route to major tourist destinations Rauja Majar and Dhrubkunda but the muddy road discouraged the tourists from visiting the places.
Similarly, they also said that second-grade bricks were being used for the beautification of Dhruvkunda. They have demanded that quality bricks should be used.
