Manang, Aug 29 : A report on losses caused by flooding and landslides on May 28 and June 15 prepared by the Irrigation and Water Supply Division, Gandaki Province has been submitted to the province's Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Water Supply.
The report has estimated costs for the reconstruction of structures and irrigation and drinking water projects damaged in the disasters.
It has also suggested short and long term solution to control river erosion and protect physical infrastructure projects as roads, bridges, irrigation and hydropower projects from flooding and landslips within the budget released for the current fiscal year, 2021/22.
In the disasters, hydropower projects including Donakhola, Dharapani, Gya Khola, Tilche, Syarku Khola, Chame and Sabje Khola have been damaged, according to the report.
Likewise, the destroyed irrigation projects include Khangsar, Tachai, Kyupar, Bhratang, Sabje and Kyubenshi. The report suggested the Ministry to repair and reconstruct the damaged projects.
