Kathmandu, June 19: Nepal Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association (NPFC) in collaboration with Embassy of Pakistan has distributed relief materials to the people hit hard by the prohibitory orders imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Pakistani ambassador to Nepal Syed Haider Shah, and NPFC president Himalaya Shumsher Rana and general secretary Dr. Manju Ratna Sakya and local leaders jointly provided rice, oil, lentil, salt and soaps to the poor, needy, sick and disabled people in different places of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Dhulikhel and Panchkhal in Kavre district on Friday.
According to the NPFC, altogether 250 packets of food items were given to locals at Babar Mahal of KMC -11, Balkhu of KMC- 14 and Kalimati of KMC 13 and Dhobighat of Lalitpur Metropolitan City -4.
Relief items were also sent to Dhulikhel and Panchkhal where the Association has been annually conducting a free health camp.
Each packet contains 10-kg of basmati rice, one litre of cooking oil, one packet of salt, two hand-wash soaps and one kg lentil.
“We believe the relief items will be a great help to the poor, handicapped, sick, labourers and old people who have been struggling are facing hand-to-mouth problems during this period,” said NPFC.
Poor and daily wage earners have been left out in the cold during the prohibitory order which has been in place since April 29.
