By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 17: The proposal of the Nepal Communist Party to name Province-2 as Janaki province has been rejected by voting held in the Provincial Assembly today.
In the election held to name the province, the NCP proposal, which was for Janaki province, got only 37 votes while there were 70 votes against it.
Although NCP has 32 lawmakers in the Province assembly, it garnered 37 votes. There will be voting over other proposal to registered to name the Province.
Altogether four proposals have been resigtered.
With the rejection of NCP's proposal, there will be voting over proposal of the Nepali Congress, which wants to name the province as Mithila Bhojpura.
Proposal to name the Province should be endorsed by at least two-thirds majority.
