Doti, Aug 2: The local administration has extended prohibitory orders for a week in Doti due to the growing risk of COVID-19.  

The administration had imposed the restriction in the district since April. The prohibitory order has been extended to August 8.    

There is a lot of influx and exodus of people in the Doti district since a lot of Doti youths travel to neighbouring India for work. Unchecked entry in the entry points from India to Nepal pose the risk of the spread of infection.    

Officiating Chief District Officer of Doti, Kiran Joshi, shared that this is the ninth time prohibitory order was extended in the district. Essential services and supplies will resume despite the prohibitory order.    

Vegetables and fruits shops will remain open from 6 am to 8 pm while the banks and financial institutions are allowed to open from 10 am to 1 am complying with the health safety protocols.     

Development works will continue unabated provided precautions are observed. Similarly, vehicles used for such projects are permitted to operate.    

There are over 1,400 COVID-19 infected ones in the district. Altogether 11 people have succumbed to the flu-like infection in the district to date.
