Kathmandu, Feb 25: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has conferred the Hem Bahadur Malla Award for 2075 BS on senior pulmonologist Dr Gaurishanker Lal Das amid a ceremony today.
At the ceremony organized at the Office of President in Shital Niwas, President Bhandari feted 96-year-old Das in recognition of his unparalleled services and contributions to the medical and social sectors of the country.
The Award, instituted by the Salt Trading Corporation in 2059 BS in the memory of its first General Manager Hem Bahadur Malla, carries a purse of Rs 200,000.
President Bhandari also honoured Das with a letter of commendation.
