Jumla, July 10: Jumla has welcomed a woman Chief District Officer (CDO) for the second time.
Bijaya Prasai of Bhaktapur, transferred to Jumla, has resumed her responsibility as the second woman CDO of the district.
Two years ago, Durga Banjade was deputed as the first woman CDO in Jumla.
Prasai was sent to Jumla after the transfer of CDO Bhupendra Thapa from the district.
New CDO Prasai on Thursday organised a press meet and took suggestions and advices from local journalists.
She said she would focus on the overall development of the District, besides maintaining law and order in the district.
She urged journalists to focus their news on the people who were unable to receive citizenship certificate.
On the occasion, journalists suggested her to make the information officer of her office active.
Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) District Chapter vice-chair Dil Maya Shahi expressed hope that as a woman CDO, Prasai would work in favour of marginalised community.
FNJ chapter secretary Man Dutta Rawal urged her to make dissemination of information more effective.
Journalist Gorkha Bahadur Thapa and others also suggested local administration tasks to Prasai.
